New Video Games Released For The Week Of May 24, 2015

Amongst the new video games released for this week, we find some nostalgia filled arcade classics, a remastered RPG that won over critics and gamers in 2014, and never-ending spinning limo ride through downtown.

ArcaniA: The Complete Tale is a new port of the game featuring a native 1080p resolution. The game features the core title, originally called ArcaniA: Gothic 4, and the expansion, “Fall of Setarrif.” While the complication has been available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the PlayStation 4 release is based off the PC version running at the 1080p resolution with a targeted frame rate of 60fps.

The Wii U is also receiving its only new game until later this fall, Splatoon. The game is a team-based third person shooter with 4v4 matches. A 1v1 couch multiplayer mode is available, as well as the single player campaign. Taking cues from deBlob and other titles, players can change between a human and squid form, with the goal of covering the game arena with as much of their color as possible in order to achieve victory. The form the player takes dictates the effectiveness and mobility of the character, as well as their supply of ink. Splatoon features two modes of multiplayer action, with Turf War and Splat Zones. One downside to the multiplayer is Nintendo’s lack of voice chat with their platform, as well as any kind of matchmaking with friends. Both of these features are core to the standard multiplayer experience, such as you would find in Call of Duty or Destiny.

Other highlights of the week include some classic Mega Man games. Mega Man 8 from the original PlayStation is making a digital appearance as a PSOne Classic title for the PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and even the PSP. Wii U owners will receive the dual titles Mega Man Battle Network 4 Blue Moon and Red Sun for the Wii U Virtual Console.
