Miley Cyrus And Ariana Grande Slut-Shamed For Dressing 'Like Porn Stars'

Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande have once again been shamed for their clothing choices and, even worse, compared to porn stars. The Daily Mirror, a rather liberal tabloid, shocked audiences by producing an editorial titled "Why must pop stars like Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande dress like porn stars." Author Amanda Killelea tries to make a point.

"But when pop stars whose careers are funded by the tween and teen market parade half-naked on the telly all the time, it is no surprise that their 10-year-old fans think dressing like that is normal."

Several took to Twitter to condemn the author and the Daily Mirror on their hypocrisy.

"But despite the eyebrows that were raised in reaction to Cyrus' more questionable extracurricular activities, critiques of the young star have been focused on her sexuality. Cyrus, it has been decided, is a pouting, smoldering look-giving, cleavage-baring, ho bag — and she has been ever since she developed her womanly figure."

In 2013, Guardian author Gaylene Gould wrote an interesting article about the issue of being a feminist celebrity.

"No amount of feminist-lite lyrics can override the truth that the music and media industry has perniciously policed women's minds, bodies and creativity of late and major artists such as Beyoncé and Cyrus are mere envoys."

The concept of "slut-shaming" is something that has become popular and thought about only in the past few years. Artists such as Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande will continue to exploit the double standard and push the patriarch, which a large amount of women still support, aside.
