WWE News: ‘WWE 2K16’ To Feature Stone Cold Steve Austin-Themed Attitude Era Mode?

After teasing big news for weeks, it appears that Stone Cold Steve Austin’s news leaked before it was intended to. Stone Cold already announced that he will be at WrestleMania 32. Whether he will be participating in a match or not, Austin is going to represent his home state at the WWE’s biggest event of the year.

Secondly, Austin will do his Stone Cold Podcast on the WWE Network once again. His guests include Hulk Hogan and the Undertaker. His next guest is arguably the WWE’s greatest manager, Paul Heyman. That has the potential to set up a feud with Brock Lesnar. That’s strictly speculation as Lesnar is going to feud with Seth Rollins when he returns.

Lastly, Stone Cold Steve Austin will be working with WWE 2K16. According to WrestleZone.com, the “Steve Austin” mode is confirmed for the highly-anticipated video game.

“Their report indicates that both King and Jim Ross have been working in-studio doing commentary for the game mode, which will likely be similar to the Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels, and CM Punk vs. John Cena 2K Showcase modes included in last year’s next-generation console releases. This sort of begs a few questions – who will Austin’s chief rival for the game be, if at all, and who will make up the other rivalries for the series’ most popular returning mode.”

The CM Punk and John Cena showcase mode was a huge success in WWE 2K15. Also, Triple H and Shawn Michaels’ Showcase mode brought back great memories for the WWE fans who paid attention in the early 2000s. WWE 2K15 was arguably the best wrestling game in many years. It looks like WWE 2K16 is about to follow in its footsteps.

Not only is Stone Cold Steve Austin’s new mode going to innovate the game and make it extremely popular, the Showcase mode will include his rivalry with the Rock and possibly Vince McMahon. Those were Austin’s two biggest feuds, so the WWE will likely go with those programs.

Either way, WWE fans will pick up WWE 2K16 because of that mode alone. They will also include WWE NXT stars such as Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and Sasha Banks. That’s only a hope because nothing is confirmed thus far. If the WWE game developers are smart, which they are, WWE NXT will also be a focal point for the game. Honestly, if they made a WWE NXT video game, it’d sell out.
