Chinx’s GoFundMe Page Raises $9,390 Thus Far As French Montana Says Stop The Hate Speech

The death of rapper Chinx Drugz caused controversy from the moment it was announced, as reported by the Inquisitr, when an Instagram user initially began to take credit for the drive-by murder. Soon afterward, French Montana reacted to Chinx’s death and when a GoFundMe page originally claiming to be set up to cover funeral expenses emerged, folks asked why French couldn’t back the funeral costs.

Amid the backlash, Montana found himself addressing the controversy on Instagram, saying that Chinx’s funeral costs have been covered.

“I hate having to address the negativity during this time of grief. It is irrelevant. I pray that everyone would consider that real people lost a real man, friend, brother, father before spreading hateful speech. His funeral is taken care of. My brother is in good hands. If you don’t have nothing positive to say keep it to your self #ripchinx“

The GoFundMe page titled “In Memory of Lionel ‘Chinx’ Pickens” has thus far collected $9,390 of $100,000 as of this writing and has been shared more than 7,000 times. The GoFundMe campaign has been amended to read that the monies collected will go towards helping the slain rapper’s family, instead of covering funeral expenses.

“The Hip Hop community lost a rising star: ‘Chinx’ was gunned down in the early morning hours of May 17, 2015. A father, husband, son and brother, Chinx leaves behind a legacy of music for his fans. He was truly a great life cut short. As Chinx’ extended family, please consider helping out his family during this devastating time. This fund will be established to provide some financial support for the tough road ahead.”

As reported by BET, French also reiterated the funeral arrangements for Chinx, which is to be held on Tuesday, May 26, at The Greater Allen A.M.E Cathedral of New York at 110-31 Merrick Blvd in Jamaica, New York.

The GoFundMe page explained that financial contributions would be more beneficial than flowers, and that they launched the GoFundMe page as a response to fans asking how they could help Chinx’s family and memory.

“Instead of sending flowers, please consider helping the family fill part of the financial void. Your donations will help provide much needed financial stability to a family who deserves so much more than what they have been dealt. We cannot replace the warmth, charisma, wit, charm, and love that Chinx gave to not only his family, and friends, but also, his fans. We can however, help keep them focused on what really matters, and that is each other.”
