Michael Kors Announces New European Distribution Center

With Memorial Day weekend marking the unofficial start of summer, fashion giant Michael Kors announces a new European Distribution Center to launch its 10-year growth plan. From accessible and wearable fashions to prices that represent the discerning fashion lover, Michael Kors has set itself as a leader in the fashion industry since the 1980s.

The state-of-the-art distribution center is set to be built in Trade Port North in Venlo, Netherlands. Its location will enable the Michael Kors brand to meet retail, wholesale, and e-commerce needs in the European and Middle Eastern fashion markets.

Gearing up to begin construction in the early summer, the brand continues to promote its latest summer designs. Whether its the breeziest dresses or latest handbags and shoes, Michael Kors is on top of the seasonal fashion trends.

The eco-friendly distribution center is designed to be a 1,000,000-square-foot location. Dutch firm DENC is expected to begin construction in June in Venlo.

“The scale and sophistication of the facility reflect our commitment to substantial growth across all channels of distribution in both Europe and the Middle East,” says John D. Idol, chairman and chief executive officer of Kors.

The center was designed to be eco-friendly, making it even more fashion-forward, and will reportedly feature an LED interior lighting and a solar-panel roof.

Kors saw shares drop by 35 percent earlier this year. The outreach to European and Middle Eastern markets is expected to yield major growth for the fashion label.

Inquisitr recently reported on the 400 retail stores and 3,700 department and specialty stores worldwide that have decreased the “luxury” label of Michael Kors. The brand maintains its position that it makes high fashion affordable as a New York fashion giant.

Michael Kors’ management also reported that their year-to-year decrease in sales and share values is more relative to a general decline in the fashion industry. The company stands by its product and fashion vision enough to expand into new markets in the upcoming year.

The fashion label also had a successful Fall 2015 Runway Show. There doesn’t seem to be any signs that Michael Kors is slowing down or reacting to decreasing shares. If anything, it seems to have motivated the fashion company to explore other markets and creative possibilities in its line.
