‘The Walking Dead’ Cast Updates Make Room For A Mystery Woman

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead.

Rumors are spreading that The Walking Dead may lose a fan favorite. It seems to be common knowledge among Walking Dead fans that someone will be killed off when the new season of The Walking Dead kicks off, and reports that the production team is currently filming an attack on the Alexandria setting would seem to confirm that supposition.

The current theory advances the idea that, in spite of what comic book source materials might say, AMC’s version of The Walking Dead may lose sword-wielding Michonne when The Walking Dead resumes. As Cinema Blend points out, the loss of Michonne would be particularly tragic, considering the turn her life has taken in the last season of The Walking Dead. Michonne has come so close to achieving some measure of happiness on The Walking Dead with a possible love interest — either Rick or Morgan seem like hot prospects — and the opportunities for greater authority that were presented to her in Alexandria.

Then The Walking Dead finale happened and with that, fans saw Michonne once again take her sword in hand. Internet speculation may be off on this one and maybe Michonne will be around for some time, but the signs seem to be making that unlikely. Instead, we see that Michonne will be thrust back into the fray on The Walking Dead and what better ending for her than a warrior’s death, which would come just in time for the introduction of a mystery character, for which The Walking Dead is currently sending out casting calls.

That’s right. It’s that time again and the producers behind The Walking Dead are looking to fill a very specific role. The character’s name is “Allison” and the actress filling the role must fit into the late 20s to early 40s age range. Comicbook describes Allison as “a smart, artful and charming psychologist but quickly turns awkward and messy when it comes to her personal life” who would “much rather stay safely inside her comfort zone, but the true test of her mettle comes when the comfort’s gone and the stakes are life and death. She’s not cynical and really cares about people.”

Although there isn’t a character in the Walking Dead comic books by the same name, issue 71 introduces Dr. Denise Cloyd, the closest match to the character of Allison as described in The Walking Dead casting call. It seems that the character of Allison is either entirely new, an invention of The Walking Dead television series writers, or a deviation of Dr. Cloyd, differentiated enough from the comic book character that more liberties could be taken with the character. For instance, she may have been created to give Daryl a love interest.

There’s also the incident in the comic books that leaves Carl with a gunshot wound to the eye. If The Walking Dead series recreates that scene, a doctor will be needed to save Carl’s life. The Walking Dead‘s Dr. Cloyd would definitely foot the bill for that storyline.

The Walking Dead season six premiere airs in October on AMC.
