Celine Dion said her husband has been a “champ” while battling throat cancer over the past couple of years. According to ABC News, the singer recently opened up about her husband’s health status, and she sounded very upbeat and positive, giving Rene Angelil major credit for fighting hard and getting through some of the toughest times of his life with strength and determination.
“Rene’s doing really well. We know the path that he’s going, the treatments. I knew he was amazing. He’s such a champ. He’s working hard on that. It’s hard because life imposes things on you. Sickness and you have no choice but to deal with them. I’ve been with him all my life and he’s showed me the way many times.”
Celine Dion calling her husband a champ is no surprise. She has always really looked up to him and has always spoken so highly of him. Dion is preparing to return to her Las Vegas residency this summer after taking a hiatus in order to care for her ailing husband. According to Us Weekly, Celine and Rene talked about her return together, and it is something that they both decided on.
“[Rene’s] strong. We’re creating this show together. We make changes together. He wants me back. He wants me strong, and this is what we’re doing together.”
Celine has said that Rene is doing better and that she is at a place now where she feels comfortable getting back to work.
While Celine Dion’s husband continues to be a champ through all of this, his wife has proven to be equally as strong. She has been by his side every step of this journey and will continue to be his rock no matter what. Many have been really inspired by Dion’s strength and find her attitude toward the situation, and her love for her husband, refreshing.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Celine made a somewhat rare appearance at last week’s Billboard Music Awards. She made headlines for the green leather dress she chose to wear. Although she was by herself at the event, Celine looked great and wore a big smile on her face the whole night. When she presented the award for Top Male Artist (winner was Sam Smith), she was greeted with loud applause. It’s clear that people really respect her, and she is ready to take the stage once more.
A couple of months ago, Celine talked about her decision to return to Caesar’s Palace.
“He wants me to sing again, and I want to do this with him. René will be in the audience. I promise there will be high, happy notes, but it’s going to be very emotional for me.”
