Liverpool Transfer News: Raheem Sterling Out, Pedro In?

Liverpool’s transfer news has been dominated with growing rumors that English international Raheem Sterling is set to leave the club this summer. It has been suggested that Liverpool will not be bullied by neither Raheem nor by any interested parties. However, Liverpool could be ready to pounce on Barcelona’s Pedro.

Raheem Sterling and his agent, Aidy Ward, continued their ongoing war with the club. Ward told the London Evening Standard that Sterling will not sign a new contract regardless of Liverpool’s offer.

“He is definitely not signing. He’s not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing. My job is to make sure I do the best with them (my clients). If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter.”

Liverpool’s transfer policy has been heavily criticized in the past for being unambitious and wayward. The club has decided to cancel Friday’s previously scheduled contract talks.

With Sterling looking ever more likely to leave, Barcelona’s Pedro might be his immediate replacement. Pedro and Barcelona are open to a Liverpool transfer as the Spaniard has fallen down the pecking order at the Camp Nou since the arrival of Luis Suarez.

According to the Telegraph, “Barca have publicly insisted they want to keep Pedro at the club, but it is understood that there is a behind the scenes acceptance the player could leave.Premier League clubs have been informed that Pedro could be available for as little as £7m, but could face competition from Inter Milan.”

The 27-years-old Spaniard would bring a wealth of experience to team criticized for being too inexperienced throughout the season. Pedro has been a mainstay in a Barcelona team that has been described as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.

Raheem Sterling’s future at Liverpool may now be in limbo with several clubs monitoring his contract stand-off at Liverpool. Transfer rumors are still buzzing around, but Anfield Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is adamant that Sterling will remain at the club.

“We have always been clear. It will always be dealt with internally. We look to do thing privately. The concentration for myself is to continue to improve Raheem as a footballer. Whether there are talks or not, he has two years left and I expect him to be here. It is quite simple.”
