It’s Chris Evans Vs. Everybody As ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Films in Atlanta

Chris Evans is currently donning the stars and stripes as one of our favorite Marvel superheroes, shooting Captain America: Civil War in Atlanta. The action star has been spotted doing everything from attending a funeral to battling sinister supervillain Crossbones.

We’ve seen the man who would eventually turn evil and become Crossbones in Captain America: Winter Soldier. Agent Brock Rumlow, played by Frank Grillo, has been seen in all kinds of social media set photos fighting Chris Evans.

Crossbones won’t be the only villian Chris Evans will have to contend with. According to the New York Daily News, Baron Zemo has also been spotted, and an undisclosed character played by The Hobbit star Martin Freeman will also appear. And if Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman, appears in this film as rumored, expect to see him and Chris Evans battling Ulysses Klaw. In the comics storyline, almost all of S.H.I.E.L.D. turns on Captain America. Expect Chris to have his hands full. He’ll need to throw that shield out every second.

No one outside of Marvel Studios knows exactly what will happen in the story, but in the comics Crossbones is responsible for the death of Captain America. That doesn’t mean that’s necessarily the plot of the movie. Marvel likely wants to keep Chris Evans in the Avengers film lineup. Marvel is also giving the public prime access to Chris Evans and the rest of the Marvel superhero stars during filming.

As seen on ComicBook.com, many have been able to record videos and take photos of the action. It’s likely a PR strategy and a way to get the public involved in promoting the movie, spreading their cell phone snaps through social media at breakneck speeds. Chris Evans and the rest of the cast can stay in the minds of moviegoers at minimal advertising costs. The film takes Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, and other Avengers on a new journey. Atlanta represents Africa, perhaps Wakanda, the well-known comic book home to Black Panther. Though Panther has yet to appear in set photos with Chris Evans, I’m sure we’ll catch a glimpse of him as shooting continues.

As for other major superheroes you can expect to see alongside Chris Evans, look for Robert Downey Jr. as an adversary. Expect to see some tense scenes between Evans and RDJ. Black Widow will be there. Falcon will return. Not sure if we’ll see the Winter Soldier come back, but it’s a strong possibility.

With all the supervillains and superheroes turned enemies, expect Chris Evans to catch quite the beating. The film is set for release May, 2016.
