Melissa McCarthy’s Weight Loss Is The Talk Of Hollywood As ‘Spy’ Hits Theaters

Melissa McCarthy’s weight loss has people talking. The actress stars in a new film that will hit theaters on Friday, and she was honored on Tuesday with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to People Magazine.

Spy co-stars Jude Law and Jason Statham, and McCarthy will play the role of a CIA agent that is going out for her first undercover mission. However, it is not the film that had people talking about McCarthy. People are talking about her 50-pound weight loss. The actress has been losing weight, and this is not the first time her weight loss has been noticed by her fans and the media.

According to a previous Inquisitr report, fans noticed her weight loss back in January on the red carpet for the People’s Choice Awards. At that point, McCarthy had lost 45 pounds.

After Tuesday’s ceremony, Melissa spoke with the local media about receiving the honor, according to People Magazine.

“It was a little overwhelming. I thought, ‘Just try to stay in it so you remember it, don’t get so overwhelmed,’ because I’m like, I don’t want to forget today, I don’t want to forget my mom, my kids, anybody that I get to see here watch this happen. I want to remember every second of it.”

McCarthy has been making news for another reason this week. She shared a story about a meeting with a critic that criticized her appearance in 2014 film, Tammy. The critic came up to her at an event at the Toronto International Film Festival, and he told her that he was the person that wrote the less than flattering piece about her.

Instead of walking away from him, she faced him, and she told him exactly what she thought of the article and the words he had written about her. According to USA Today, she shared her story with Ellen DeGeneres when she visited the talk show following the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

“He said, basically I’m only a good actress when I look attractive and that my husband shouldn’t be allowed to direct me because he let me be to look hideous in this movie. And it was a lot of things and just like kind of how dare women not look beautiful, perfect and attractive in a movie and he came up to me and I was surprised that the talked to me because he was there for a different movie and I said, ya know would you do that to a man? I said, just know that every time you write stuff every young girl in this country reads that and they just get a little bit chipped away. I just think that we tear down women in this country for all these superficial reasons and women are so great and strong and I think he really heard that.”

Melissa is losing weight, but she never felt like she needed to lose the weight. She was happy the way she was. According to Tribute.ca, Melissa shared her philosophy about looks and weight loss with People Magazine.

“I’ve never felt like I needed to change. I’ve always thought ‘if you want somebody different, pick somebody else. ‘I want my girls to know what’s real, that how you should or shouldn’t look – all the ‘shoulds’ – it applies to no one. It’s not real. It’s made up.”

Fans of Melissa McCarthy will see the actress back on CBS next season. Mike & Molly has been renewed for Season 6, but the series will not return to the network in the fall. The series will return to the series during the winter for mid-season.
