Chelsea Clinton To Release Book In The Fall

Chelsea Clinton is becoming an author. The daughter of presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, and former president, Bill Clinton, is taking on an new role in addition to motherhood.

According to People magazine, the new author will have a book out on September 15, called It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going. This book will be focused on children, and will help to explain to them the important issues of poverty, climate change, and more. The age group that Chelsea Clinton hopes to reach are 10 to 14.

Speaking with People magazine, Clinton expressed her interest in reaching out to children, and how becoming a mom inspired her to pen the book. “That’s the age when I started tuning in more to issues I cared about and trying to make a difference. I loved the book 50 Simple Things Kids Can Do to Save the Earth and remember wishing there were books like that on other issues I cared about. This book is my attempt to do that for kids today.”

Although her own journey through motherhood inspired her to pen her first book, Clinton, who gave birth to daughter Charlotte, 7-months, explained that this idea was in her head before she became a mom. That said, she actually chose to write the book when she found out she was pregnant.

“I wanted my daughter to grow up in a world where kids are informed about what’s happening, feel empowered to make a difference and ultimately take action on issues they care about. Now, being a mom, somehow I care even more intensely about trying to make that happen.”

Her editor, Jill Santopolo, explained what Chelsea’s vision is as an author. “She was a storyteller. Soon after, I reached out to her, asking if she’d be interested in writing a book for kids. It was a shot in the dark, I thought, but the answer came back and was a resounding yes.”

Prior to taking on the role as an author, Chelsea was a special correspondent for NBC News. She decided to leave in August of 2014 with a statement on her official Facebook page.

“It’s been a privilege to be part of the NBC Family. I admire the work and dedication that their reporters, producers, crews, editors and studio teams deliver every day, particularly as I personally experienced through the stewardship of Brian Williams at Nightly News and Rock Center. I especially want to thank Deborah, Alex, Tracey, Catherine, Mary, Victor, Soraya and everyone I had the honor of working with in the field, in the editing room and at Education Nation.”

As for her next chapter, it seems like some people aren’t too excited.
