Kansas Ends NCAA Dreams Of North Carolina, Advances To Final Four

While this will be the first time since 2008 that Kansas has entered the NCAA Final Four it will be the clubs 14th lifetime appearance.Leading the Jayhawks was Tyshawn Taylor who racked up an impressive 22 points, six rebounds and five assists while Thomas Robinson added 18 points and nine rebounds. Jeff Withey also added 15 points to the game.

Withey has been on an impressive run against North Carolina teams, during the Sweet 16 he helped Kansas team take down North Carolina State with 10 blocks, the second most in NCAA tournament history.

Kansas managed to take advantage of two late consecutive turnovers by North Carolina, taking a 66-61 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining when Tyshawn Taylor punctuated the sequence with a fast-break dunk that put the Jayhawk faithful on their feet. Despite the turn in fortunes North Carolina Coach Roy Williams chose not to call a timeout which led to guard Stilman White pushing a pass to forward James McAdoo who shot a three-pointer to put the Tar Heels within two points.

White was playing in his second consecutive game because of Marshall’s injury and he managed to finish with seven assists and zero turnovers.

Kansas in the meantime was helped along by a pro-Kansas crowd at Edward Jones Dome along with a sprained right ankle to John Henson, although Henson would return to the game after his ankle was re-taped, hitting 12 of their first 14 shots.
