Chad Ochocinco Redoes Deal, Staying With The Patriots

Foxboro, Ma. – Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco earned $6 million dollars last year when he played for the New England Patriots. He was due $3 million guaranteed this year. But something happened last season. The all star only had 15 catches and 276 yards.

Although his stats were awful, Chad Ochocinco was adamant that he wanted to stay playing for the patriots this season. The Patriots were adamant they wanted to keep him. When all was said and done all they needed was a formula to do it.

Today they found one.

The mercurial receiver has agreed to restructure his contract, according to a source, taking his $3 million base salary and turning it into just $1 million. In doing so, Ochocinco makes earning a spot on the roster not about money, but merely about talent. If he’s good enough among the 10 pass-catchers, he’ll stay, regardless of his salary.

Ochocinco is saying this year he will be better acclimated to the play book.

He said,

“Anything is different when you’ve come from something you’re used to for so long. It’s like being married. If I’m married to Halle Berry for 10 years, and her and I break up, and I marry Scarlett Johansson, there are going to be some things I have to adjust to based off what I’m used to. That’s just the way life is in general. What I was able to do was come in here and keep on working.”

Do you think that Chad Ochocinco will make the team out of training camp this year or will he be cut for not pulling his weight?
