Christina Aguilera is finding her new niche without looking for one. Who know that the powerhouse singer could be so funny and talented at the same time? Christina first made headlines with her impersonations of Britney Spears, Shakira, and Cher on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
Aguilera, 34, is back again. This time, she’s impersonating every pop star in the world. Aguilera takes it further by dressing like them, and taking on their mannerisms.
The singer didn’t have any contestants left to mentor on The Voice, but that didn’t faze her. Christina managed to steal the spotlight with her spot-on impersonations of pop stars auditioning as judges on the music competition.
Some would say that Aguilera’s little spoof felt like a creative Saturday Night Live sketch. Maybe she should host and perform on there once again! When she lasted hosted the show, Aguilera performed a spot-on impersonation of Kim Cattrall in her Sex in the City sketch, as noted by TIME magazine.
Aguilera even attempts to sing and speak like Britney Spears did in her classic “….Baby One More Time” music video. Aguilera even speaks like the singer, “Hey, y’all. Join Team Britney. It’ll be super fun. Join team Britney, b**ch!”
For her Lady Gaga impersonation, Christina wore the singer’s iconic 2008 MTV Video Music Awards look. As for her Shakira impersonation, she faked a Colombian accent and said phrases like, “You’re voice is so mellifluous,” and “Tambour is tantamount to the tone.”
Christina Aguilera also took on the role of her idol, Cher. She wore the singer’s iconic outfit from her 1989 “If I Could Turn Back Time” music video.” Aguilera asked, “What does this button do?” She then turned to the camera and said, “Are you kidding me? I have an Oscar for God’s sake! An Emmy! A Tony!”
Those aren’t the only pop stars that Christina impersonates in the clever sketch. She also does an amazing impersonation of Miley Cyrus and Sia in the clip. For those sketches, Christina wears Miley’s infamous 2013 VMA costume, while she wears Sia’s a platinum blonde wig that covers her eyes.
Is impersonating pop stars Christina Aguilera’s latest career move? Not so fast. The singer is busy hosting NBC’s The Voice, recording her own album, and guest starring on ABC’s Nashville. Aguilera also found the time to record a song for the Finding Neverland soundtrack.
She shared a cover of “Anywhere But Here” with her fans on Tuesday. This song is the opening number of the Broadway music, which follows the life of Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie. It’s a very emotional ballad for the singer.
