Bill Murray Appears As A Drunk Mess Following Letterman’s Final Show [Video]

Bill Murray was the first guest to ever appear on The Late Show with David Letterman back in 1982 and Mr. Murray again repeated the honor by being the final guest to ever grace the Letterman stage this past Tuesday night. It may now appear that Bill celebrated that honor by partying a little too hard, before being rolled out in that giant cake.

Yes, Bill Murray was rolled out in a giant cake and, as you can see in the clip, no, it wasn’t just a prop. There was cake everywhere. Take a look at this clip, featuring a cake-covered Bill Murray.

This wasn’t the first time Mr. Murray appeared in eccentric outfits. Bill has arrived for his Letterman appearances dressed as Peter Pan, Liberace, a dumpster diver, a marathon runner, and who could forget his appearance in a tux, after water skiing at George Clooney’s wedding. Coincidentally, he offered cake to Mr. Letterman on that occasion as well.

Following his departure from the Letterman stage, Mr. Murray stopped by MSNBC for The Last Word, where it seems Bill’s partying may have gotten the better of him. Initially, it was thought that Bill Murray, known for a comic genius that includes physical presentations, had missed the chair on purpose, just for the laughs. It wasn’t until afterwards, when Bill began to slur his words that it began to seem Mr. Murray had been intoxicated.

The incident followed Murray’s Letterman routine, which included toasts to the retiring Late Show host with a bottle of vodka.

“You’ve had a wonderful run,” Murray said to Dave, after swigging from the bottle of vodka. “You fell in love and you married a virgin who gave birth to an infant god child… then your wife gave up the virgin thing completely and you’ve been rolling ever since.”

As the scene progressed, Mr. Letterman took the bottle away from Mr. Murray, but this didn’t stop Bill’s antics. Mr. Murray, hoping to get Dave to reconsider his retirement, ran around the studio in an attempt to get others to help him convince Mr. Letterman to stay. The scene might have been touching, but for Bill’s insistence that they sing “More Worldwide Pants” to the tune of “Give Peace a chance.”

Bill Murray has several projects in the works. Mr. Murray can be seen in Aloha, also starring Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, and Emma Stone, scheduled for a May 29 release.
