Paris Hilton Violates Selfie Ban At Cannes Film Festival, Poses For Red Carpet Self-Shot

Paris Hilton broke the “no selfie rule” at the Cannes Film Festival, posing for a red carpet picture that is stirring controversy.

The heiress and reality television star showed up to the premiere of Inside Out, an animated movie about a young girl who moves to a new city. Wearing a sparkling backless gown, Hilton stopped to pose for photographers, but it was a self-shot that got her into trouble.

When Paris Hilton ran into actor Sun Zu Yang, she stopped so he could take a picture of the pair. That wouldn’t be too unusual for the publicity-hungry reality star, but the setting made it a no-no.

As The Independent explained, selfies are forbidden at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

“With selfies being snapped by everyone and everywhere (even the Queen has been in one), Cannes Film Festival director Thierry Fremaux said that they were banned from this year’s event. He described them as ‘ridiculous and grotesque’ (Surely that depends on who’s in the photo?)”

While she’s no stranger to a red carpet, Paris Hilton has been trying to take a lower profile in recent years. It’s been a long time now since she was featured on a reality show, and Hilton said she has no plan to go back to television anytime soon.

In an interview with Nylon Magazine, Paris explained that she has moved past that phase of her life.

“I get calls every single day from producers and networks begging me to come back to TV, but I’m so busy that I wouldn’t have time,” Hilton claimed.

She continued, “I’m focusing on my brand and my business. I don’t have time to do a show.” Paris Hilton is about the celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the release of her fragrance, and her brand has moved beyond reality television and attention-grabbing headlines to focus on actual products.

Hilton, once noted for being famous for no real reason other than her last name, said she feels good about getting paid for real work now.

“It feels amazing, I feel so proud,” she said. “When I was a little girl I knew I wanted to do big things, but I never thought that I would have my own fragrance empire.”

Paris Hilton isn’t exactly in trouble for her selfie at the Cannes Film Festival. The unwritten rule was violated by a number of others, including Eva Longoria and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
