Bristol Cancels Wedding, Sarah Palin Says Marriage To Fiance Dakota Meyer Has ‘Challenges’

As Bristol cancels her wedding plans for May 23, Sarah Palin has provided hints on why the marriage to Bristol Palin’s fiance, Dakota Meyer, has been canceled. The original message sent out indicated that Bristol fully knew about Meyer’s past marriage to Cassandra Wain, but now Sarah is discussing the wedding as if it has “challenges.”

In a related report by the Inquisitr, the official marriage license documents show that Bristol Palin’s fiance married Cassandra Wain in Campbellsville, Kentucky, when Meyer was just 19-years-old. Meyer’s lawyer confirmed that he was divorced in March of 2010, but a friend of Wain claimed Meyer was lying in some manner about his past.

Writing on Facebook, friends of Wain had admonished Meyer to “tell the truth” and the next we know Bristol cancels the wedding date previously set for this week. Bristol Palin’s engagement ring was also MIA in recent Instagram photos but she claims the rumors are not the reason for the cancelled wedding.

“Regarding salacious headlines in recent days about ‘secret wives,’ Dakota and I discussed our past relationships prior to our engagement,” Bristol explained via Sarah’s Facebook post. “Dakota was legally divorced years ago, as any good reporter could and should have disclosed to readers. As usual, false stories and dramatically written headlines begging controversy should be disregarded, and we have faith that our privacy will be respected at this time by those with decency. Thank you!”

Sarah Palin did not explain why Bristol cancelled the wedding but apparently they are still planning a family party in Kentucky on the same date.

“Bristol and Dakota couldn’t be more thankful for the love and support of family and friends over the past months while preparing for their wedding. They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held,” Sarah said on her Facebook post. “Many friends and family still look forward to getting together that day in Kentucky anyway – and the Palins and Meyers are happily looking forward to still being at ‘the old Kentucky home’ on May 23 to celebrate life, in general!”

But there may be more to the story based upon a video made on Saturday when the former VP candidate attended an event on the battleship USS Iowa in Los Angeles.

When Sarah was asked about Bristol Palin’s wedding problems, she said Dakota Meyer and Bristol had “issues” to work out.

“You know, I’m very happy for Bristol. Bristol is also very grounded, very practical, and in terms of making a life long commitment she knows – hey – everything has to be actually worked out before you make that commitment. She posted something today about… ‘Let’s let God work everything out.’ That everything works together and instead of maybe in the future falling apart. So, you know, that kinda speaks to her character and her heart, knowing that questions have to be answered, issues have to be worked out before you actually say, ‘I do, when I’ll actually be with you for the rest of our lives.’ If so, that’s kind of alluding to some of the challenges.”

Although Bristol cancels wedding plans shortly after Sarah Palin made these remarks, it is still uncertain if the engagement is completely off. It is possible the two may seek pre-marital counseling and work out these “challenges” to their marriage.
