Floyd Mayweather Wins Again, Cashes In On $827,000 In Bets

Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. truly lives up to his name. Aside from being an undisputed boxer, he is also a notorious gambler famous for his huge gambling wins.

Last year around October, he enjoyed a winning streak betting on NFL games which gained him almost $4 million. His wins over the past four days might be smaller compared to his previous winnings, but $827K is still a respectable number. However, people are more attracted to his gambling skills than the money he made.

So how did Mayweather make $827,273.73 on four bets? According to the Los Angeles Times, Mayweather bet that the Houston Rockets would beat the money line in Game 6 against the Clippers. He also predicted that the Atlanta Hawks would beat the second-half point spread against the Washington Wizards in Game 6. Third, he forecasted that Gennady Golovkin would knock out William Monroe Jr. before the end of the sixth round and finally, he wagered that the Clippers would finish ahead of the second-half spread in Game 7.

Impressed? Yahoo! Sport UK & Ireland aren’t. In their latest article about the boxer’s gambling win, they expressed that despite Mayweather’s winnings, they aren’t convinced. They wrote, “Mayweather only ever seems to tell the world about his successful punts AFTER they’ve come in. When he starts sharing his tips beforehand, then we’ll be impressed…”

But nothing can put Mayweather out of his good mood. He even took to Instagram to brag about his $827K win. He uploaded a photo showing an evidence of his winnings and captioned it with, “The last 4 days have been great. I’m getting paid while watching others entertain and perform. I don’t do anything for free.”

Mayweather isn’t the only celebrity who indulges in extravagant betting. His rapper buddy 50 Cent also revealed last March that he would bet $1.6 million on Mayweather to beat Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao. In a radio interview, the rapper said he didn’t have any doubts that Mayweather was going to win.

Mark Wahlberg is also guilty of betting big. In a bet with rapper P. Diddy, the actor wagered $250,000 for Pacquiao’s win.

While $827K is a big amount of money, it is nothing compared to the money that Mayweather made when he won the “Fight of the Century” last May 2. He reportedly took home $200 million after beating Pacquiao.
