Not-So-Lucky Russian Roulette Player, 19, Clings To Life After Gun Goes Off On The First Round, Family Finds Out Via Facebook

A not-so-lucky Russian roulette player, Josh Taylor, 19, of Sydney, Australia clings to life after the gun goes off on the first pull of the trigger, according to Mirror.

At around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Taylor decided to play Russian roulette with three of his friends as they sat in a car outside of a supermarket. After one of the teens placed a single bullet in the Smith and Wesson revolver, Taylor pointed it at his head and pulled the trigger.

According to the three teens in the vehicle, they told detectives that the gun went off on the first pull. None of them got a chance to play Russian roulette.

Paramedics were immediately called to the scene where they began working on him before transporting him to the hospital.

“We are comfortable at this time that it appears to be some form of misadventure rather than a targeted criminal act,” said Detective Inspector Garry Sims.

“It’s a tragic incident, we feel for the young man, we feel for his family, we feel for the people there at the time.”

Taylor’s family knew nothing of the Russian roulette incident until Taylor’s sister logged in to her Facebook account and saw posts about it online. She immediately informed her parents before police officials were able to deliver the shocking news, according to The Guardian.

“I’ve been in contact with his mother. She’s obviously beside herself. We all just express our feelings for the family,” Sims added.

Sims stated that there has been a lot of negative comments from the public, and he asks that people remain respectful of the family as they weren’t involved in the deadly game.

“There have been a lot of comments that have been harmful and hurtful to the family,” Sims said.

“We ask people to consider the fact that there is a family with a great deal of stress at the moment. The key message police are asking is for people to show restraint, respect and courtesy.”

In 30 years Sims had been a detective, he stated that he’s never had to investigate a case involving the game Russian roulette.

“You see these things on movies and things, but I’ve never experienced anyone who would consider playing Russian roulette with a loaded revolver.”

In a Facebook post, Taylor’s mom wrote: “Come on mate, fight!!! WE need you home with us… no words can comprehend.”

After shooting himself in the head during the deadly game Russian roulette, Taylor remains at Westmead Hospital in critical condition, but doctors say it’s stable.

Investigators have uncovered the handgun from the scene, and continues to investigate the tragic incident.
