Kaitlyn Bristowe: Five Fun Facts About The ‘Bachelorette’


Kaitlyn Bristowe is up against Britt Nilsson once again Monday night. The two women who competed to win the heart of Chris Soules on The Bachelor are now in a race to win the votes of 25 men who will chose the next Bachelorette. Bristowe was sacked by Soules just before the final two, but not before she made an impression on audiences with her humor and relaxed attitude.

In case she gets the honor of handing out roses as the official Bachelorette, here are some vital tidbits about Bristowe to get set for the season.

She was a figure skater, although she can’t do much on hockey skates. Bristowe tweeting during the hockey-themed Bachelor group date with Britt and Carly that she had yet to master the sport. That still put her ahead of Soules, whom Hollywood Take described as “not exactly graceful.”

She can rap, on Twitter and on dates. Kaitlyn’s rapping skills might be a matter of debate, but she gave it a shot on The Bachelor. She welcomed Soules to her hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, where her family spends the winters, with a session at a recording studio. Chris joked on his People blog that “I suck at rapping. I suck at rapping, I suck at speeches, I suck at writing songs.”

One side note on that Bachelor hometown date: Kaitlyn’s mom gave her an outfit to wear in the fantasy suite, in a scene that was cut from the final broadcast.

She good-naturedly teases Americans with her Canadian sense of humor. On the Bachelor, Kaitlyn was listed as hailing from Vancouver, B.C., although she grew up in Leduc, Alberta. According to her ABC Bachelor biography, her greatest achievement was getting a dance scholarship that allowed her to leave her small town.

Those small-town roots would have come in handy, had Soules given Bristowe the final rose and asked her to move with him to his farm in Arlington, Iowa.

She used to teach adult hip-hop classes. Fans of The Bachelor know Bristowe as a dance instructor. A Twitter fan revealed that among her endeavors was a class of like-minded enthusiasts in her small Alberta town.

She wants to start a land of pirates. Like most people, Kaitlyn has fantasized about winning the lottery. According to her ABC bio, she plans to pay back her parents for the cost of her dance lessons. She will also purchase a private island for pirates, which she will call “Yarrrland.”

The two-night Bachelorette premiere gets underway at 9 p.m. Monday on ABC.
