Darksiders II Confirmed To Be Wii U Launch Title

Darksiders II is just a few months away from its June 26 release date on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and now we know when Vigil Games’ action-adventure title will be making its way to the Wii U.

Hayden Dalton, lead designer at Vigil Games, confirmed to Digital Spy that Darksiders II is planned to release for the Wii U day one with the console’s release. Considering that Nintendo hasn’t given us a release date for the Wii U, we don’t know exactly when that will be.

In the interview, Dalton explained just what will be difference in the Wii U release of Darksiders II, and how the developer is taking advantage of the Wii U’s tablet-like controller.

“That’s been very interesting to see what those guys are doing, and they’re making efforts to make sure we do use it in more than a slapdash way,” Dalton told Digital Spy. “It’s basically the core game, but then with added abilities to do certain things that you can’t do on the other consoles.”

Dalton didn’t go into specifics with Digital Spy, but he did provide an example of what the developer is trying to do.

“One of the things that we did, when we were originally going to show it off, was that you could equip stuff directly. So, for instance, I could be running along and I could click on another piece and I could put it on as I’m running through the game,” he explained. “That’s huge, it’s not breaking up the game in a way, I’m not going into a menu and assigning it, I’m literally just tapping as I’m playing.”
