Robert Kardashian: David Schwimmer Got Advice For Role From Kris Jenner

Robert Kardashian passed away in 2003, but his legacy lives on through his family and their various reality shows, modeling careers, and businesses. Now that a movie about the O.J. Simpson trial is about to be made, his name is in the headlines again, and actor David Schwimmer is involved.

Schwimmer, who will be portraying Kardashian in the film American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson, says he asked Kris Jenner for her input on the role.

“I was lucky enough to speak to [Jenner] for a few hours who was very generous with her time. I thought, `Who better to tell me who Robert was as a husband and a father than her?’ And it’s been a very exciting process so far,” Schwimmer said.

It’s unclear at this point how much of Kardashian’s life will be included in the film, but the movie is already getting quite a bit of buzz after cast announcements were made recently; included are John Travolta, Selma Blair, and Cuba Gooding Jr. as Simpson. Gooding told the Associated Press that he has a lot of people asking him now whether he thinks Simpson was truly guilty of the crime despite his acquittal, but Gooding says that’s not what the film is about.

“People keep asking me whether I think he did it or not, and I don’t think that’s the goal here, to prove his innocence or his guilt. I think it’s more us putting the judicial system under the spotlight… We try to find a truth in the moment so that we can find answers. I think this 10 hours of television is gonna be very powerful, and I think a lot of people are going to learn a lot.”

The series, helmed by American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy, will air on FX, and Jenner has given the show her blessing. She even took selfies on the red carpet with Selma Blair recently, who will play her in the series. The actress bears an uncanny resemblance to Jenner, especially in costume.

“Met the gorgeous Selma Blair last night who is going to play me in the television series American Crime Story/The People vs O. J. Simpson. I think she’s a great choice..Follow her @therealselmablair she’s amazing….#love #remembernicole,” Jenner captioned their photo on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Rob Kardashian, Robert’s namesake, has kept his distance from the family and reportedly suffers from depression, but recently took to Twitter to praise his stepdad, Bruce Jenner, for his open interview with Diane Sawyer, in which he spoke about his transition to a female.

“You have always been a role model to me and now more than ever, I look up to you. LOVE YOU,” Robert Kardashian wrote.
