Rick Santorum: Obama Preferable To “Etch A Sketch” Romney

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In a speech in Texas on Thursday, GOP Presidential candidate Rick Santorum suggested that giving President Obama a second term would be preferable to nominating “Etch A Sketch” Mitt Romney.

Santorum has been hammering Romney with the same mallet since the start of the campaign, He is not conservative enough to defeat Obama.

Santorum said during a campaign stop,

“You win by giving people a choice. You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who’s just going to be a little different than the person in there. If they’re going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk of what may be the Etch A Sketch candidate for the future.”

The “Etch a Sketch” comment refers to an Obama Campaign head who when asked if Romney’s rightward trend ion the primary will hurt him in the general election.

The adviser said,

“It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch,” he said on CNN. “You can kind of shake it up and we start all over again.”

Basically what Santorum is saying is that Romney will do or say anything to win.

Romney, issued a statement saying he was disappointed “that Rick Santorum would rather have Barack Obama as president than a Republican.”

The statement further said,

“This election is more important than any one person. It is about the future of America. Any of the Republicans running would be better than President Obama and his record of failure.”

Newt Gingrich jumped right in with a tweet saying,

“Rick Santorum is dead wrong. Any GOP nominee will be better than Obama.”

Santorum is expecting to win the Louisiana Primary on Saturday and then he said,

“The race will not be over when Texas comes around. You’ll have the opportunity here, in the state of Texas, to speak very loudly about what kind of leader you want in this country,”

Satorum has spent more time in Texas than any other candidate.
