If fans aren’t already super excited to see what director J.J. Abrams is doing with the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens or Episode VII, as it is also known, Pegg spilled the beans about a cameo with none other than James Bond himself, Daniel Craig.
We’re not sure if Pegg will get in trouble, but he says this is confirmation of old news and he is right. If you may remember, last fall, when Star Wars: The Force Awakens was in production at Pinewood Studios outside of London, there were rumors that Daniel Craig was seen on set and at the time the talk was that, indeed, James Bond would be making a cameo appearance in the Disney blockbuster.
At the time it was unclear what Craig’s role in The Force Awakens would be. Speaking to reporters at the London premiere of his latest film, Man Up, Pegg was asked about his own rumors and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
“I wasn’t a Stormtrooper. Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper…I shouldn’t have said that.” Pegg said. Too late now. He got fans super excited to see, even if briefly, Craig as a Stormtrooper.
Additionally, another source claimed that Craig personally asked for the small part and also requested to be unidentified in promotional material put out by Disney and Lucasfilm.
“Daniel asked for some sort of secret cameo role — and was happy to have his name left off the posters. Fans will love trying to work out which covered up character is him.”
Pegg’s revelations may have spoiled the surprise for fans, but that doesn’t take away the fact that the British actor will actually be in one of the most anticipated films of the year and asked to be a part of it. With an already impressive cast and having Daniel Craig as a Stormtrooper, Star Wars: The Force Awakens would be even more amazing.
However, as this is not confirmed by the studio, we may never know if Daniel Craig is a Stormtrooper. Simon Pegg could very well be playing tricks with fans, and he is more likely to deny his statement, than to confirm it’s true.
