‘The Flash’ Season Finale Spoilers: Watch The Extended Promo For The ‘Heartbreaking’ Episode [Video]

It’s going to be a wild end to the first season of The Flash. The question on everyone’s mind: Will Barry change the past? Will he save his mother?

In the season finale, “Fast Enough,” Wells, whom Barry has now captured, thanks to help from Oliver Queen and Firestorm, may be locked up in the pipeline, but that in no way means he’s no longer still a threat, and he presents Barry with a life-changing choice. Robbie Amell returns again as Ronnie Raymond, and Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) is with him to help the S.T.A.R. Labs team with the final fight.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Rick Cosnett has revealed there’s a surprise coming in the Flash season finale, and based on the extended promo that Entertainment Weekly posted (you can watch the video below), it could be anything.

When Barry asks him why he killed his mother, Wells replies, “Because I hate you” – and that’s just the beginning of the trailer.

There is going to be time for at least a moment of happiness, as Caitlin and Ronnie get married, but the rest of the video suggests that there won’t be much time for smiling. It looks like Barry’s going to say goodbye to the team, perhaps before going back in time, because the promo ends with him telling his mother who he is on that fateful night.

And it couldn’t be the season finale without Wells saying, “Run, Barry, run.”

But as Henry asks, “At what cost” can he save his mother?

Furthermore, Grant Gustin has teased the Flash season finale for E! Online and used the word “heartbreaking” more than once.

“It’s really emotional. It’s a heartbreaking finale. We’ve incorporated time travel in the first season and the final has a lot of that. It’s just a really heartbreaking conclusion to the first season, and it does wrap things up in a nice way to hopefully be able to move on and have a different kind of tone for season 2.”

Candice Patton also previewed the season finale and promised that “so much happens” and echoed a sentiment that has already been expressed that there will be tears and surprises.

“There’s also epic, epic special effects. It’s just kind of one of those episodes that’s going to blow your mind and I also don’t think it’s the finale that people are expecting. I think people are expecting something specific out of the Wells character and Barry Allen and his mother and there’s all of that, but it’s bigger than that as well.”

When asked about Barry and Iris’ future, given what that future newspaper has as a byline – Iris West-Allen – Gustin pointed out that Wells is the bad guy and no one knows what will happen, but also teased “the course of things will be changed in the finale anyway.”

When asked about Iris’ feelings, Patton said that Iris does love Eddie and she isn’t so fast to think about something that might be true in the future.

“I think deep down, she has a huge heart for Barry and that’s maybe her one true love, but right now, she’s in a committed relationship with Eddie, and she doesn’t care what the future says. She’s going to give that relationship everything it’s got because she care about that guy, but I know we’re all hoping that that newspaper is correct.”

The Flash Season 1 ends Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the CW.
