Jenna-Louise Coleman Is ‘Beyond Excited’ For New ‘Doctor Who’ Role [Video]

The Doctor is getting a new companion. Jenna-Louise Coleman will be joining the cast of Doctor Who. Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will leave the show after this season.

Producer Steven Moffat said:

“It’s not often The Doctor meets someone who can talk even faster than he does, but it’s about to happen. Jenna is going to lead him on his merriest dance yet. And that’s all you’re getting for now.”

Moffat didn’t elaborate too much on the character but he did say that it will be a very interesting plot line.

“Who she’s playing, how The Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by The Doctor’s standards, this isn’t your usual boy-meets-girl.”

Air Lock Alpha reports that Coleman will be the fifth full-time companion to The Doctor since Doctor Who was revived in 2005. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Coleman is expected to make her first appearance on the show during the Christmas episode.

Coleman said:

“I’m beyond excited… I had a ridiculous amount of fun during the auditions. It’s going to be fantastic.”

Here’s a brief interview with Jenna-Louise Coleman about her new role on Doctor Who.”
