‘The Bachelorette’ 2015: ‘Degrading’ Controversy Sparks Reaction From Kaitlyn Bristowe And Britt Nilsson

The “degrading” controversy facing Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson over who will be this season’s lead on The Bachelorette 2015 has sparked a reaction from the two women.

E! News reports that the two women didn’t necessarily agree with Bachelor Sean Lowe’s view on it being “degrading” and “disgusting.” As the entertainment news website reveals, Bristowe and Nilsson react to this season’s unique twist, in which the contestants themselves decide which of the two women will be the one looking for love. They spoke in a press conference Wednesday and let fans know their real feelings.

Britt says she definitely didn’t view The Bachelorette 2015 twist as “degrading.”

“When they told me there was two, I didn’t see it as degrading at all, because I don’t think it had to do with us being women. I just thought that they couldn’t decide, so there was two. I didn’t see it as degrading, I honestly saw it as compliment, like we’re both so great. I like Kaitlyn a lot, so being put on the same level as her… I get it and it’s interesting. It’s kind of more like how a real relationship would unfold… it didn’t upset me. I read a lot of people saying that, but personally, I didn’t really see it that way.”

As Inquisitr just reported, Chris Harrison said instead of Britt and Kaitlyn being rivals, they supported one another as they were competing for the lead. Britt confirms this by stating in the press conference that she liked Kaitlyn “a lot.” In fact, Britt said it made she and Kaitlyn “better friends.” They actually bonded over the craziness that surrounded them while filming the show.

So, what’s Kaitlyn’s take on the new twist? She didn’t feel degraded competing with another woman for the lead.

“I wouldn’t have done it if I thought it was the most degrading thing in the world. I think with The Bachelor and The Bachelorette world, at what point do you say it’s crazy to do that? I think it was just a little twist and turn they decided to do.”

As USA Today covered on the press conference, Kaityln said she had to think long and hard about whether she wanted to go for it. She said that first night was an emotional roller coaster. There were times she was “questioning” her decision wasn’t sure if she was being “set up.”

Both Kaitlyn and Britt say they’re happy with how the final results turned out and that it went the way it was supposed to.

The Bachelorette 2015 premieres Monday, May 18 on ABC at 8 p.m., ET/PT.
