Jennifer Lopez’s Las Vegas Residency: Will It Top Britney Spears or Mariah Carey’s Shows?

Jennifer Lopez announced that she’s heading to Las Vegas. The performer now has her own residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s AXIS Theater.

Don’t get too excited yet. J.Lo’s residency won’t start until January 20, 2016, according to a report by CBS News.

Lopez, 45, released a statement about her new Las Vegas residency. The entertainer said that she always wanted to perform in Sin City. Lopez promises fans that she will bring a high level performance to every show.

“I’ve been preparing for this moment my entire life. The show is going to be a multifaceted high energy Jenny from the Block party, mixing all aspects of what my fans and I love — dance, hip-hop, Latin and pop. It’s going to be the show I’ve always dreamt of creating.”

Lopez also spoke to Us Weekly on Wednesday morning about her dreams of having a residency. She told the gossip site that she finds touring grueling, so the thought of performing in one place was definitely attractive to her. Having a different show in the same place each night will also allow Lopez to express herself creatively.

“[It’s] just the idea of creating the show I always wanted to create. A tour is a different animal and to be in the one place doing a show that I’ve always imagined creating at this moment in my life — I’m very excited about it.

It’s going to be everything the fans have come to know me for onstage. I’ll have dancers, hip-hop, it’s going to be a high-energy type of show that anybody can come and see, the fans and everybody else.”

The American Idol judge already has Las Vegas shows scheduled for January, February, May, and June of 2016. Check out the full list of dates at the Entertainment Weekly blog post. The first batch of tickets for Lopez’s shows will go on sale on Saturday, May 16.

Her residency will include a two-hour show that will include her classic hit songs, sparkly costumes, booty-shaking, pyrotechnics, and amazing dancers. Even Planet Hollywood is excited to have Jennifer Lopez headline at their hotel.

“Jennifer Lopez is the perfect addition to the exciting line-up. Jennifer’s show will be the perfect combination of a cutting-edge production spectacular and an extraordinarily fun night-out, all centred around a supremely talented international superstar.”

Lopez isn’t the only one with her own Las Vegas residency. Britney Spears and Mariah Carey currently have their own residencies set up in the wild city.

Britney Spears has extended her Las Vegas residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino by three months, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. The legendary pop icon announced the exciting news to fans on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this month. Spears recently suffered from an ankle injury after her embarrassing on stage fall that was captured on video.

Mariah Carey is settling in at her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace. The powerhouse vocalist was treated to a sexy chair dance by Tyson Beckford and Chippendales dancers.

Carey will only perform for 18 dates, which is probably due to poor ticket sales. It’s unclear whether or not the diva will extend her residency.

It’ll be any wonder if J.Lo’s shows will be as successful as Britney and Mariah’s residencies.
