Carnie Wilson Gets Another Tune-Up, Undergoes Second Weight Loss Surgery

For many people the thought of undergoing gastric bypass surgery is scary but what about undergoing the procedure twice. That’s what singer Carnie Wilson did on January 18, just 12 years after her first round of gastric bypass surgery helped her originally lose 150 lbs.

The procedure involves placing a silicone band around the stomach which creates a stomach pouch the size of a golf ball. After the surgery patients can only consume approximately three ounces of non-sugary foods in one sitting.

Now Carnie says she has lost an additional 30 lbs. with more weight to follow soon.

She tells PEOPLE:

“It was the right decision for me and I’m doing really well so far. It’s all about taking good care of myself.”

Carnie is reuniting with Wilson Philips to promote the groups new album Dedictated and a new TV Guide Network reality show titled Wilson Philips: Still Holding On.

Wilson says she was struggling to lose her post-pregnancy pounds after daughters Lola, 6, and Luciana, 2, were born.

Struggling with her weight after the births of her daughters she said she just grew tired of having the extra weight.

If you’re a fan of Carnie Wilson and Wilson Philips their new album drops on April 3 and you’ll be able to catch their new reality TV show starting April 8.

The first episode of the show is called The Weight Is Over in which all three members of the group voice their concern over Carnie’s relapsing weight gain.

Do you think undergoing not just one but two gastric bypass surgeries is a risk worth taking if a patient packs back on their original pounds?
