Stana Katic Will Return For ‘Castle’ Season 8

Good news Castle fans, Stana Katic has confirmed she will be returning for season eight!

ABC made the announcement on Tuesday, May 12, revealing that Stana had signed a new contract and would be reprising her role as NYPD Detective Kate Beckett.

While her co-star Nathan Fillion, who plays writer Richard Castle, had already confirmed his return for the 2015/2016 season, Katic’s future with the network was still up in the air.

Katic took to Twitter to make the announcement to her fans.

“I’m so pleased to announce that, after talking with our new show runners, Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley (both of whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with on the show before) I’m excited about the future plans for Beckett and delighted to be returning for a Season 8 of Castle,” she tweeted.

Show creators Andrew Marlowe and his wife Terri Edda Miller announced, via Twitter, earlier this week that they would be exiting the show after season seven.

There is a universal truth we all have to face, whether we want to or not…Everything eventually ends,” they wrote in a joint statement. “As much as I’ve looked forward to this day, I’ve always disliked endings… Today is one of those days for us. Today we say goodbye to everything that was familiar, everything that was comfortable. We’re moving on. But just because we’re leaving, and that hurts, there are some people who are so much a part of us, that they’ll be with us no matter where we are. They are our solid ground, our north stars, and the small clear voices in our hearts that will be with us…Always. Andrew Marlowe & Terri Miller.”

So, what is in store for season eight? Terri Miller laid out her vision for the crime fighting couple, reassuring fans that they would never kill off Becket, according to Us Weekly.

“We see them together and enjoying life and enjoying adventures,” Miller said. “And I would be interested to find out if the time traveler was right about the things he said, if he truly was a time traveler,” she added. “Time Will Tell.”
