Molotov Cocktails Hurled At Democratic Texas State Senator Wendy Davis’ Office [Video]

Wendy Davis, Democratic Texas State Senator, had two Molotov cocktails hurled at her Fort Worth, Texas state legislative office. The attack occurred midday Tuesday.

There were no reported injuries and Senator Wendy Davis was not in the office at the time of the Molotov cocktail attack.

A Molotov cocktail is a generic name used to reference an array of improvised incendiary weapons. The name Molotov cocktail is derived from the Winter War in which the Finns manifested the phrase as an insult to the man responsible for the partition of Finland, Vyacheslav Molotov. Molotov cocktails, or fire bombs, are often utilized by fighters lacking professional weaponry such as hand grenades.

Molotov cocktails struck a third-floor office door at the state legislative office located on West 7th street. Office staff were quick to extinguish the flames utilizing an available fire extinguisher.

Witnesses claimed an unknown assailant was seen fleeing the scene of the crime as flames were bursting out from the dual Molotov cocktails. The subsequent fire was no more than a small blaze.

A maintenance worker chased the unknown assailant to no avail.

Wendy Davis’ communications director, Anthony Spangler, was quoted by CBS DFW saying that he heard a loud thud as a Molotov cocktail hit the door. After an office employee went to investigate the loud noise, a flaming device was found.

State Senator Wendy Davis represents District 10 in the Texas Senate.

The investigation into the incident is currently being conducted by the arson bomb squad from the Fort Worth Fire Department.
