Cynthia Bailey Explains Going To NeNe Leakes’ Side At ‘RHOA’ Reunion

Part 3 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 7 reunion show showed NeNe Leakes breaking down over the subject of her mother and walking off the set. One person who was quick to rush to NeNe’s side and help her as she recovered backstage was friend-turned-enemy Cynthia Bailey. In her latest BravoTV blog post, posted right after the reunion finale episode aired on Sunday night, Cynthia explained what was going through her head when she saw NeNe having such an emotional and tough time.

Cynthia wrote that her natural reaction was to comfort NeNe.

“My natural reaction when NeNe broke down and walked off was to go to her and hug her. I had no idea how I would be received or what I would say to her, but my heart said go after her, and I did. NeNe and I were friends. Real friends that spent real time together outside of the show. Regardless of what the status of that friendship was during the reunion, I never want to see her hurt.”

Cynthia not only went to NeNe’s side on the stage, but also followed her as she walked off and went to her dressing room. When she came out of the dressing room, a visibly shaken Cynthia told therapist Dr. Jeff and host Andy Cohen that NeNe was okay.

In her blog, Cynthia explained why she followed NeNe to her dressing room.

“I followed her to the dressing room because I wanted her to know that I was close by if she needed me. My spirit told me it was the right thing to do, and I did not question it.”

So, is there a chance that NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey will be friends once more? As the reunion aired, Cynthia posted a photo of herself and NeNe smiling and leaning into each other at the reunion. NeNe even has her hand on Cynthia’s shoulder. “Light & Love,” Cynthia wrote for the photo’s caption, followed by a lips emoji.

On her own blog, NeNe did acknowledge Cynthia’s concern for her at the reunion. In a blog post, NeNe thanked Cynthia for giving her a hug.

“Thank you @porsha4real @phaedraparks @cynthiabailey10 gave me a big ole hug.”

Yet NeNe seemed to want everyone to know that she’s more thankful for Porsha Williams and Phaedra Parks. She titled her blog post “So Thankful For These Two!” and her Twitter message that provided a link to the blog post read “So Thankful for Porsha & Phaedra…” Prior to mentioning Cynthia’s hug, NeNe explained why she was so thankful for Porsha and Phaedra that day.

“So Thankful for Porsha & Phaedra! They didn’t judge me! They calmed me and gave me strength that day!”

Earlier last night, NeNe also posted a message that seemed to be about Cynthia.

“Any friend that turned into an enemy has been hating since day one.”

As reported the The Daily Dish on Friday, in a recent backstage interview at The Meredith Vieira Show, NeNe said that she and Cynthia will never be friends again.

“When Cynthia and I first stopped talking, I did miss our friendship because we had been so close and we did talk so many times a day. So I did miss our friendship. But now, for me, it’s kind of old news. I’m over it. We will never be friends like that ever again…I don’t wish her any harm. I actually wish her the best. We just will never be friends again.”

Another person NeNe will likely never be friends with is Kandi Burruss. Kandi was reluctant to go to NeNe’s side, as she cried on stage and didn’t do so until Kenya Moore told her to. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Kandi later posted a tweet about not kissing butt.

Prior to Cynthia Bailey coming out of NeNe Leakes’ dressing room, NeNe’s husband, Gregg Leakes, told Andy Cohen why the subject of her mom was such a trigger for NeNe. Gregg explained that NeNe’s mom, unable to take care of all five children, sent her and a brother to live with an aunt in a different city. He added that NeNe has wondered all her life why she had to be one of the ones to be sent away, while her mom continued to take care of the other children.
