‘Fallout 4’ Trailer Likely For E3, Created By Guillermo Del Toro’s Production Company
Another piece of Fallout 4 evidence hit Monday that gives more credence to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC post-apocalyptic role-playing game showing up at this year’s E3 conference in June. Additionally, this new evidence sets up ties between Bethesda Softworks and Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim, Pan’s Labyrinth).
A Linkedin profile discovered by VideoGamer shows that a 3D artist was hired by Mirada Studio in December 2014 to work on a Fallout 4 cinematic trailer. The contract for the work ended in March of this year, which suggests that the creation of the trailer is meant for release at Bethesda’s E3 press conference on June 14.
Previous rumors covered by Inquisitr claimed that the publisher has a big reveal planned for the latest iteration in the beloved role-playing franchise. An inside source with German site PC Games stated that a 20-to 30-minute gameplay video will be on display, though there are some contradictions on whether this will be on stage or behind closed doors for the press only.
The Guillermo del Toro connection comes with the studio creating the Fallout 4 cinematic trailer. Mirada Studios was founded in 2010 by the del Toro, fellow director Matthew Cullen, cinematographer Guillermo Navarro, and executive producer Javier Jiminzez.
Del Toro has had a rather infamous run at video games with his own creation, Insane, announced the same year Mirada was founded, but is currently in development limbo. His involvement with Konami and Silent Hills recently came to an end as well.
However, it’s currently doubtful that the director has any involvement with Fallout 4. Mirada Studios portfolio shows a body of work that is primarily focused on creating commercials for Amazon, Nike, Disney, Target, and other companies plus a pair of Katy Perry music videos. The only video game work for the studio prior to Fallout 4 has been a Mario Kart 8 commercial.
Additionally, del Toro is currently involved in multiple projects including Rings, Crimson Peak, Kung Fu Panda 3, and more. So, those joking that Guillermo del Toro’s involvement with Fallout 4 means the game is already cancelled, are indeed just joking.
Still, Bethesda Software’s E3 presentation looks to be a strong one. In addition to Fallout 4, it is expected that we will see something from Doom 4, Dishonored 2, and more from BattleCry. There are bound to be some other surprises as well to fill the hour long press conference.
