Russian Tower Climbers ‘OnTheRoof’ Move From Shanghai To Shenzhen In Highest Adventure Yet [Video]

A group of Russian daredevils first attracted attention more than a year ago when they scaled, what was at the time, the world’s tallest man-made structure. Now, Vadim Makhorov and Vitaly Raskalov have returned to top what will be the world’s second tallest tower after its completion.

On Friday, the Russian tower climbers released another video that shows them again engaging in what is surely one of the most impressive acts of disregard for vertigo ever caught on tape. A brief note on their YouTube video explains the feat that the pair set out to accomplish this time.

“For more than a year ago we’ve climbed Shanghai Tower certainly not expecting the resonance and the amount of feedback we’ve got. And so, that amount of feedback led us to an idea of making a tradition of roof topping new skyscrapers all around the world. Today’s hero of attention is a new financial center still under construction and is situated in Shenzhen, China. Right now its height is about 660 meters and that makes it the second tallest tower in the world. Right after Burj Khalifa in Dubai.”

When the Russian duo first gained attention for their antics last year, Makhorov told The Huffington Post that the climbs OnTheRoof performs aren’t for amateurs.

“Yes, we do plan them. Every time it’s different. It’s hard to say what goes into planning. We wouldn’t be too happy if other people followed in our footsteps. It’s extremely dangerous.”

Do you think the daring Russians of OnTheRoof will ever manage to scale Dubai’s Burj Khalifa?
