Celine Dion’s Vocal Cords Expected To Recover By Mid-April

Celine Dion was forced to cancel a series of concerts late last month, due to a virus that caused an inflammation of her vocal cords.

So good news, Dion fans: the 43-year-old songstress says she is planning to return to the stage in Las Vegas in June, and has set mid-April as her target recovery date. That’s also the point at which she hopes to start recording songs for her new English and French albums.

In a statement released on Monday, the star revealed she received good news last week during an examination with her doctor in Los Angeles.

Her poorly vocal cords meant the Canadian diva was forced to cancel a string of Las Vegas shows at Caesars Palace, the venue she returned to in 2011 for a three-year engagement.

Dion, the voice behind classic romantic ballads such as ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and ‘It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,’ isn’t the only star to have suffered from health issues related to her voice in recent months.

British star Adele missed several performances in late-2011 after she underwent throat surgery in Boston – she is now recovered and back in the studio.

More recently, John Mayer was forced to cancel an entire U.S. tour after it was discovered he had a granuloma in his throat, awkwardly positioned where the vocal cords come together. A good stretch of time without singing and some pretty intensive treatment are the only way he can recover, revealed Mayer in a blog post addressed to fans.
