Bruce Jenner Taunted By Republican Pollster at ‘Freedom’ Summit [Video]

Bruce Jenner may want to reconsider his loyalty to the Republican Party. Leading GOP pollster, Frank Luntz made an an insensitive joke about Jenner during a focus group at the South Carolina Freedom Summit on Saturday afternoon, Think Progress reports.

During the event, Luntz asked that the wives and daughters of servicemen stand up so that they could be applauded. A man stood up alongside the women in the crowd and Lutz looked at him with curiosity. As if to answer the pollster’s unspoken question, the man shouted out: “I was married to the WAC.” To which Luntz joked: “…so was Bruce Jenner.” “WAC” stands for Women’s Army Corps, a female-only division of the army that was disbanded in 1978. The comment incited both laughs and boos from the audience.

Bruce Jenner recently came out as transgender in an in-depth interview with Diane Sawyer on 20/20. He also admitted to being a Republican during the interview, a revelation that seemed to shock Diane Sawyer and lots of people who were tuned in.

Since Jenner has revealed the truth about his identity, the reception from the public has been mixed. On one side of the spectrum, Buzzfeed showcased the men who showed off painted nails in support of Jenner and his transition from man to woman.

#PaintYourNailsforBruce was a social media campaign started by and Australian radio station to show solidarity with Bruce Jenner and congratulate him on his bravery.

But there were groups that took a more negative stance towards Jenner’s transgender identity. The Westboro Baptist Church, known for their extremely harsh views on homosexuality and anything that seems to go against Christian doctrine, recently released a video that condemned Bruce.

The church calls Bruce Jenner a tranny in the video, which is a transphobic slur that has been denounced by the trans community.
