Elevator Robbery Goes Horribly Wrong After Elevator Doors Close On Thief, Pair Enjoys Most Awkward Ride In History
A thief who tried to rob an elderly woman inside an elevator had to then share the elevator with his elderly victim after the doors closed on him.
CBS 12 have reported that the man, who was armed with a large kitchen knife, snatched the woman’s purse, only for the doors to then close behind him. You can check out footage of the incident, which occurred at 9:34 p.m. on April 29, in Lauderdale Lakes, below.
The robber, who still hasn’t been caught by the police, followed 77-year-old Lorraine Bain into the elevator and then produced the knife.
She has since revealed that he demanded that she hand over her purse, and she immediately complied without hesitation. He then snatched her purse from her grasp, and tried to exit only to quickly learn that the doors had closed and the elevator was now going up.
But rather than wasting this time, the man decided to leaf through his latest claim and checked out what was inside the purse. The woman clawed at him and pined to have her possessions back but he resisted her urges. It was also the most awkward elevator ride in the history of mankind.
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives have released the surveillance footage of the incident, and authorities have confirmed that they’re now on the hunt for the individual responsible.
He has been reported as standing at six-feet, two inches tall, is a black male with a medium build and a short haircut. He also apparently doesn’t realise that when elevator doors open they close again soon after.
