Daniel Radcliffe Spotted As Allen Ginsberg In New York

Several actors have portrayed beat poet Allen Ginsberg on screen. James Franco played the legendary poet in “Howl.” David Cross played the author in “I’m Not There.” And now Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe will don the iconic spectacles for the new movie “Kill Your Darlings.”

Radcliffe’s Allen Ginsberg will be joined by other beat legends in the new film. Ben Foster will play William Burroughs, Jack Huston will play Jack Kerouac, and David Cross (who played Gingsberg in 2007) will play Ginsberg’s father, Louis, in a movie about a murder in 1944.

Here’s the synopsis according to IMBD:

“A murder in 1944 draws together the great poets of the beat generation.”

Elizabeth Olson and Michael C Hall also star in the movie.

Radcliffe, who is currently filming in New York, said that he was excited about doing “Kill Your Darlings” because it is the first time he’s ever filmed a movie in America.

Radcliffe said:

“I’ve never filmed in America. I’d really like to do that, work with an American crew and have that different experience. I’m hoping to make this year just about film, film, film. Then maybe get back on stage in the next two years. I am very, very enthused for that script and that young director.”

Allen Ginsburg will also appear on screen in another movie this year. Tom Sturridge will play Carlo Marx (Allen Ginsberg) in “On The Road,” an adaptation of Jack Keroac’s famous novel.
