Iron Man Made From Urine And Blood Wins $13,500 Prize

Wong Tin Cheung is a big fan of Iron Man and he has what some of us might call a twisted artistic mind. Combined with his love of Marvel comics and his artistic vision he recently chose to create a portrait of the comic book character Iron Man using blood and urine.

Iron Man, nicknamed the Golden Avenger (yeah it’s unfortunately given this piece of artwork) won the Taiwanese graduate student top honors at a major arts competition being held at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts.

For his efforts Cheung walked away with $13,500 and it was money well earned considering he had to spend two months looking for a toilet bowl with the same shape as Iron Man’s head.

The final result is called “Blood Urine Man” but Wong actually ended up using edible pigment coloring in order to get colors just right to match the real colors used for the Iron Man character. Also included in the portrait was a little bit of saliva which created the foamy white parts of Iron Man’s face.

It turns out this isn’t the first time Wong Tin Cheung has brought his love of superheroes to life with urine, he also created a black homage to Batman using the same type of process.

I don’t see the allure in creating a superhero out of bodily functions and blood but perhaps in his own way he’s greatly personalizing the entire process.

Do you think Blood Urine Man is worth the $13,500 top prize it received?
