Tim McGraw TV Drama ‘Robbers’ Showcases Acting, Producing After ‘Friday Night Lights’: Also Stars In ‘Tomorrowland’

Tim McGraw is expanding his career into TV. Known for his country music abilities, the musician is starring in and executive producing a crime show, reported Rolling Stone.

Although this is his first foray into such a show, Tim has been looking at scripts for quite awhile.

“I get a lot [of scripts]; it’s just finding the right thing for the right time,” he revealed in fall of 2014.

Now the fates have dealt him the right winning hand, and McGraw is looking forward to testing his acting and producing skills with this new venture.

The series is called Robbers, and it will air on TNT. Fans of author Christopher Cook may recognize the title and plot, which shows the horrifying adventures of two criminals, Eddie and Ray Bob, who break laws throughout Texas.

Tim will take on the role of Ray Bob, who detracts Eddie from his desire to stop his criminal behavior for his girlfriend, Della. It’s the first time that McGraw has played a villain since his Friday Night Lights role as an alcoholic father.

Tim McGraw’s new TV show is being compared to Cormac McCarthy’s No Country For Old Men, reported Deadline. Characters in the show also include a policeman trying to halt the crime spree.

In addition to the TV show, Tim appears with George Clooney in Tomorrowland.

However, McGraw is modest about his role in Tomorrowland, reported Extra.

“You never know what makes the final edit so, I am looking forward to see what makes it,” said the singer.

In addition, he discussed life with wife Faith Hill and three teenage daughters. Gracie is 17, Maggie is 16, and Tim’s youngest daughter, Audrey, just entered the teen years at age 13. Trying to get ready for big events in a household of women isn’t easy, joked McGraw.

“I was hiding in my bedroom because it was full of dresses, makeup people and hair people, and my daughters were getting dressed. Finally, they got dressed and I knew I had about thirty minutes, so I went in and got my tux on, sat down and was doing makeup. My daughters were asking me questions like, ‘Do these earrings look good?’ and finally my wife said, ‘Leave your father alone, he’s getting his makeup on,’ and I thought that’s something you don’t hear every day.'”

To keep up with his busy home life and career, McGraw works hard to stay in shape, as the Inquisitr reported. He does CrossFit regularly, plays basketball with Faith, and follows a low-carb diet.
