Hugh Grant Names Baby Girl Tabitha

Hugh Grant’s daughter was born last September but the actor has been tight lipped about his personal life. Today, however, Grant revealed his little girl’s name, Tabitha, and talked about his new life as a dad.

Grant said that he was a little skeptical about raising a baby since some of his friends warned him that it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. But Grant said that he likes his daughter very much. Grant told the Guardian:

“Lots of people warned me … [that] the baby period is not that exciting. But I am excited, actually. I thought, well, I’ll bluff through — but very little bluffing has been required… I like my daughter very much. Fantastic. Has she changed my life? I’m not sure. Not yet. Not massively, no. But I’m absolutely thrilled to have had her, I really am. And I feel a better person.”

Grant is no longer with Tabitha’s mother, Tinglan Hong, but the actor said that they are very friendly toward each other. Grant said:

“Hong is a good person, a nice person; funny, clever, great mother. She’s been very badly treated by the media.”

Grant also talked about his parenting philosophy. The British actor said that he plans on being strict with his little girl and doesn’t plan on spoiling her. Grant said:

“Good manners and not being selfish. It’s just unattractive in a child, I don’t like it. And discipline — I do think discipline’s important. I’m very glad that I had quite a strict mother who was big on discipline… My other worry … is not giving your children money. I see nothing but f—ups among my trust-fund friends. It’s like 99 percent f—ups. So I would not want to do that to my children.”
