Kate Middleton Makes First Royal Speech [Video]

Duchess Kate Middleton made her first royal speech today at the opening of the East Anglia Children’s Hospice at the Treehouse center near London.

PEOPLE reports that Middleton met with several children at the hospice and helped plant a tree on the property.

Middleton, who appeared without Prince William at her side, said:

“I feel hugely honored to be here to see this wonderful center. I am only sorry that William can’t be here today, he would love it here…. A view of his – that I share – is that through teamwork, so much can be achieved. What you have all achieved is extraordinary. Today I have seen again that the Treehouse is all about family and fun… the feelings you inspire – feelings of love and of hope – offer a chance to families to live a life they never thought could be possible.”

Middleton has been making several appearances around England lately. The Duchess has been using her time to promote several charity organizations. She recently visited the Scout Association (similar to the Girl Scouts), The Art Room which provides therapy to children, and an alcohol free pub alcohol free pub that supports Britain’s addiction program.
