LeSean McCoy Can’t Explain Why Chip Kelly Cut ‘The Good Black Players’

Since being traded to the Buffalo Bills, former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has been very vocal against his former coach Chip Kelly. During an interview with ESPN, McCoy mentioned that he has “always respected him as a coach,” despite the fact that their relationship was not the best.

But after mentioning his respect for his former coach, LeSean McCoy then turned and went after him for the cuts and trades that have occurred in the offseason.

“You see how fast he got rid of all the good players. Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest. That’s the truth. There’s a reason…. It’s hard to explain with him. But there’s a reason he got rid of all the black players — the good ones — like that.”

LeSean McCoy said he’s not the only person to mention it, noting that ESPN‘s Stephen A. Smith has also discussed the questionable moves made by Kelly. But McCoy also noted that he has moved on from the issue since he is now with Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills.

“I’m on a new team, ready to play. So it’s nothing to do with Chip. I have no hatred toward him, nothing to say negative about him.”

The Bills and Eagles will face each other in Philadelphia in December. Even though LeSean McCoy has been extremely open about how he was treated by Kelly, he said he is looking forward to visiting his old stomping grounds.

“I do love the Eagles’ fans. I have nothing but great memories there, so I’m excited to go back. I’m sure that they’ll show me some love. I have nothing but love for that city.”

While LeSean McCoy is looking forward to heading back to Philadelphia for the game, his former coach may end up somewhere else. As the Inquisitr previously reported, a rumor came out that Kelly may be looking to reunite with his University of Oregon quarterback, Marcus Mariota, who was drafted by the Tennessee Titans. If that rumor is true, then LeSean McCoy will face his former coach in October, when the Bills take on the Titans.

ESPN indicated that the Eagles have not responded to LeSean McCoy’s comments. But David Murphy, a writer for the Philadelphia Daily News, mentioned in an opinion piece that those comments could be part of the reason why McCoy is no longer with the Eagles.

“[It] is a telling piece of narcissism when you read it from the perspective of players like Jason Peters and Darren Sproles. What he meant as a swipe at Chip Kelly was also a swipe at all of his ex-teammates whom Kelly hasn’t gotten rid of.”
