WWE Rumors: Update On Samoa Joe’s Signing And Start Date With WWE

The hottest and biggest free agent in wrestling is Samoa Joe, and the rumors of him going to WWE are getting stronger by the day. There are some updates as to what is going on with Joe, including when he may sign and start with WWE. However, there are still some hurdles to get past.

The most recent version of Jim Ross’ Ross Report podcast had Samoa Joe as a guest, and he spoke at length about him possibly going to work for WWE. Ross asked him about it, and Joe called it the “unchallenged challenge of his career.”

Now, it needs to be made known that the podcast was actually recorded before WrestleMania 31, and there have been some things that have changed since then.

At the NXT tapings near the end of April, Samoa Joe appeared backstage and ended up having a meeting with Triple H. It is not known what happened, but it is believed to have been a good meeting.

Some have believed that Samoa Joe would end up starting with WWE or NXT sometime in early June, but that won’t be the case. WrestleZone reported that Samoa Joe will take on Chris Hero at a Smash Wrestling charity event for ALS on June 6.

During the interview with Jim Ross, Samoa Joe said that he would be open to either starting with NXT on a trial or going straight to the main roster. Going to WWE would allow him to prove himself, and it’s something he truly wants to do.

There is another issue at hand as well and it’s one concerning a former talent for WWE — CM Punk.

During the Ross Report, Samoa Joe spoke on a number of subjects, including facing past opponents again. Upon saying that, Joe went on to say that he is absolutely convinced that CM Punk would want to face him again after their long rivalry in Ring of Honor.

“I’ve got the people that I’ve already wrestled. I mean, obviously I’d like to go out and wrestle AJ [Styles], maybe even Chris [Daniels] if you want to throw him in there too. You know, [CM Punk] Punk. For everything it is we’ve still I know he very much wants to have one last one, one last go. I’m sure he’d love for it to be 100 minutes or 90 minutes but we’ll see how that goes.”

They always says “never say never,” but the chances of CM Punk ever going to WWE again are very slim, so maybe one day on the independent scene. Samoa Joe is still a free agent and nothing is set in stone, but it looks like he may be in WWE before SummerSlam.
