Seth Gilliam Arrested For DUI — And He’s Not The First ‘Walking Dead’ Star To Face This Charge

The fictional characters of The Walking Dead live in a morally ambiguous world, and none more so than Father Gabriel — played by Seth Gilliam. That moral ambiguity seems to have seeped into real life — the actor was just arrested on a drunk driving charge.

The TV priest — last seen crushing a zombie skull and losing his marbles in Alexandria — allegedly clocked 107 mph on highway in Georgia not far from where the AMC series is filmed, in Senoia, the Associated Press reported. The alleged incident occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday near Peachtree City.

According to an insider, Gilliam apparently gave a pretty amusing excuse for his bat-out-of-hell speeding: He was used to a Jeep, but that night drove a Chevy Cruze rental, the Hollywood Gossip added.

Seth may have been going much faster — the arresting officer wrote in his report that he hit his brakes before he sped by his cruiser, and was still going 107. When the cop approached the vehicle, he allegedly found him with “extremely bloodshot” eyes, sitting among a cloud of marijuana funk.

According to police, Gilliam admitted he’d consumed three beers and a shot of liquor. They also found a joint in a cigarette box stowed away in an armrest, In Touch Weekly and TMZ added. He subsequently blew a.107 on a Breathalyzer and was arrested.

Now Father Gabriel faces charges of speeding, marijuana possession, and DUI — he was released after being arrested.

Oddly, Gilliam has not only played at the spiritually-tormented priest on The Walking Dead, but also a cop in The Wire and is set to play cop in an upcoming film called Police State, reported TMZ. His co-star on both TV shows — Chad Coleman — just got into a spot of trouble himself after ranting on a subway after hearing a racial slur.

But Seth won’t stand alone as the only Walking Dead actor arrested for a DUI. And it’s the last person you’d expect to commit a crime — the beloved Hershel Greene, aka Scott Wilson. The AP dug up this old arrest, which also occurred in Peachtree City, in 2012 — also at 2 a.m. His arrest followed a 911 call that ratted out his erratic Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Wilson, 70 at the time, admitted to drinking scotch and wine at a restaurant that night, and when the arresting officer ordered him to do the standard field sobriety test, Scott asked if he could do yoga instead, the Huffington Post reported in 2012.

As for Seth, perhaps he was channeling Glen’s joy ride out of Atlanta in Season 1.
