Groom Has Rights Read, Gets Arrested Just After Saying ‘I Do’

If you have outstanding traffic citations and warrants in Pennsylvania and are planning to get married, beware. In this case, the groom gets arrested shortly after saying, “I do” to his lovely bride and, instead of finishing the nuptials, had his rights read to him in front of the assembled guests instead.

The groom was then dragged away from the wedding in handcuffs by the Weatherly police, which is hardly the romantic reception the couple were expecting.

According to ABC7 News, it seems 42-year-old Todd Sandefer of Milnesville had not one, but two outstanding traffic citations along with two domestic relations warrants.

Police in Weatherly decided to pick the most inopportune moment to grab their man after receiving a tip that Sandefer was about to be married at the Salem UCC church on Saturday.

16WNEP reported that to make things worse, after he gets arrested, Sandefer was not even allowed to attend his own wedding reception after the ceremony and his brand new lovely bride had to then fetch her new husband from jail after his brief incarceration. The new Mrs. Sandefer even had to visit Carbon County Prison to retrieve his rented tuxedo.

This was probably not quite what the romantic couple had in mind when planning to tie the knot for their future life together. Despite recent popular films, handcuffs do not make the perfect item for a romantic future together.

It seems getting arrested at or shortly before weddings is becoming quite the worldwide phenomena for many and varied reasons, as can be seen from the following recent tweets:

However, while Sandefer’s arrest was an unfortunate incident on one of the most romantic days of a person’s life, at least this couple only got married once. The Inquisitr reported a while back on a woman, Lianna Barrientos, who became a serial bigamist by getting married 10 times, but only going through four divorces.
