Dr. Ben Carson, Retired Neurosurgeon, Announces Candidacy For Presidency

According to MSNBC, Dr. Ben Carson announced his candidacy for president on Monday morning as he promised he would do. The retired neurosurgeon made his announcement in his hometown at the Detroit Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts. Carson made a unique statement during his speech.

“I’m not even asking everyone to vote for me, I’m asking everyone to listen.”

Dr. Carson is an African-American conservative who said before a roaring crowd that he is an anti-politician and someone who knows what it’s like to struggle and succeed.

“I gotta tell you something. I’m not politically correct. I’m not gonna be politically correct because I’m not a politician and I don’t wanna be a politician.”

Carson did not relate any policy proposals, but he vowed to rework Washington and government as well as getting rid of programs which create dependency in able-bodied people.

Carson is the fourth Republican to announce a bid. Former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina announced her bid earlier on Monday morning on Good Morning America. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is expected to announce his intention on Tuesday. Three Republicans who are already campaigning include Senators Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz.

The tea party supports Carson, but he is not favored by moderates because of his far-right views. Some of the Carson’s views that might be issues for him while campaigning are his unapologetic views about gays being compared to pedophilia, America being compared to Nazi Germany, and his view that Obamacare is akin to slavery. Carson also doesn’t believe in evolution and has said abortion is human sacrifice.

Dr. Carson will go down in history for leading a team of 140 to perform the first-ever successful separation of cranially conjoined twins in 1987. In 2014, he tied for sixth as the most-admired man in America. Cuba Gooding Jr. portrayed Ben Carson in the 2009 television movie Gifted Hands.

The retired neurosurgeon isn’t afraid to speak his mind, even if it means criticizing people in their presence. That’s what he did to President Barack Obama at a National Prayer Breakfast a few years ago when he spoke against the Affordable Care Act.

Time magazine calls Carson “an accidental candidate” because he is running with absolutely no political experience. The GOP has never picked a nominee with no governing or military experience. What do you think of Dr. Ben Carson running for a contender for the GOP’s 2016 presidential nomination with no political experience?
