Kim Zolciak Says Friendship With NeNe Leakes Turned Great The Day She Left ‘RHOA’

Kim Zolciak has been gone from The Real Housewives of Atlanta for two seasons, but she was still brought up on Sunday night’s airing of Part 2 of the Season 7 reunion show. At one point, host Andy Cohen, after telling NeNe that she has lost a lot of friends on the show, asked her if she misses her former co-stars Kim and Sheree Whitfield. NeNe said that what she misses about them is that they weren’t desperate to stay on the show, unlike some of the current cast.

During an event appearance last week, Kim actually talked about her friendship with NeNe. The two, who were friends before starring on the Real Housewives together, went through some big ups and downs in their friendship while filming the show. Kim revealed that things got better with NeNe the minute she quit Real Housewives.

“We’re great. We’ve been great since I, literally the day I left Housewives, at that reunion, we hugged, I texted her, cause I was actually really emotional when I left that reunion. I felt, ‘Oh my God! This is where it all began.’ Had no idea I was going to have my own show and then from then on we’ve been great.”

Kim and NeNe will soon be filming a new reality show, NeNe and Kim: The Road to Riches, together. In an interview with E! News in late March, NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak were confident that they weren’t going to fight on their new show like they did during the five seasons that they co-starred on The Real Housewives of Atlanta together. Both women blamed the format of the Real Housewives for their previous drama. NeNe said that she’s excited to work only with Kim.

“Well, one of the things I’m most excited about is working with Kim, just the two of us. I just left Housewives where I was working with like, six monsters… Working on a show like [Real Housewives] tears friendships apart. It’s hard.”

Kim Zolciak agreed, saying that she and NeNe won’t have anyone else interfering with their friendship.

“It will be good not having anyone interfering with NeNe and I. We’re back to we started twelve years ago, no other noise. No other people talking nonsense. It will just be her and I and we have a really good time.”

When NeNe said that she expects to have some disagreements with Kim but doesn’t want it “to ever go so far that [they] can’t come back,” Kim replied that she doesn’t think that will happen because they won’t “have anyone else fueling the fire.”

After NeNe and Kim: The Road to Riches, whether NeNe Leakes continues on with The Real Housewives of Atlanta may depend on who else comes back. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, NeNe recently admitted that she can’t see herself returning for Season 8 if the cast remains the same.
