‘Suicide Squad’ Cast Photo Revealed: Who Is Who On Task Force X?
David Ayer, director for the coming Suicide Squad film, has been busy recently with promoting his upcoming villain flick. In fact, the director has released photos of the various villains set to appear in the movie. According to USA Today, included in the photos is a gallery of the team members, also known as Task Force X, which were uploaded via Twitter with the caption: “Task Force X assembled and ready #SuicideSquad.”
The film is based on the DC Comics series about a group of villains who are tasked to complete black-ops assignments for a government agency. If the team completes the missions given to them, they get a little bit of their time removed from their Belle Reve Penitentiary sentence.
The team features a number of different bad guys including Slipknot (Adam Beach), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Enchantress (Cara Delevinge), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Headshot (Will Smith), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez).
Ahead of the recent group shot of the Suicide Squad, Ayers released an image of his newly envisioned Joker with the caption: “The Suicide Squad wishes you a Happy Anniversary Mr. J. #Joker75 #SuicideSquad @WarnerBrosEnt @DCComics.” The Joker is being played by Jared Leto. Also not included in the group shot were Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz, Jim Parrack, and Common.
This new DC movie is an attempt by the comic franchise to incorporate their creations into a larger story and universe, much like Marvel has done with its cast of superheroes. One exciting part of this expansion is the introduction of Harley Quinn, which, surprisingly, will mark the first time the character has been featured on the big screen.
Quinn is the sidekick/girlfriend of the Joker. While Quinn has gone through various treatments over the years, the character has evolved from being simply the Joker’s emotionally abused girlfriend to having her own comic book titles, according to Forbes. She even teamed up with Poison Ivy at one point. This development has created a great fanbase over the years, and it could be argued that she is the most famous female character to come out of the DC Comics world. Her inclusion in the film is sure to make many fans happy and should draw more viewers to the movie.
The coming film is written and directed by Ayer, who is gearing up to film in Toronto Canada at the Pinewood extension. Suicide Squad is expected to be released in August 2016.
