Teana Walsh: Activists Demanding Detroit Prosecutor Be Arrested For Offensive Facebook Post

Last week, Detroit prosecutor Teana Walsh made headlines for highly offensive comments she posted via Facebook. Apparently, she’s tired of all the Baltimore riots and protests surrounding Freddie Gray’s death.

So, she offered a controversial solution to rid the city of protesters and rioters. Walsh suggested that police kill those out in the streets fighting for justice. Of course, the shocking statement has been removed from her Facebook page, but not before hundreds of screen captures were saved as documentation.

Here’s a screenshot of the shocking Facebook post:

On Friday, May 1, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced Walsh’s plans to resign voluntarily once the Facebook post made headlines. However, activists don’t believe her resignation is enough. According to Rolling Out, poet and civil rights activist Rudwaan has launched a petition on change.org demanding Walsh be arrested. The petition also includes a letter addressed to Wayne County prosecutor, Kym Worthy.

In the letter, Rudwaan referred to the arrest of Ebony Dickens, an Atlanta, GA, resident who was arrested over her Facebook post under the alias “Tiffany Milan” suggesting that all white cops be killed. In a nutshell, he’s arguing that Walsh’s comments are no different. Both impose threats and incite rioting, so he’s wondering why she has not been arrested.

Here’s an excerpt from the lengthy letter:

“We are not an easily distracted people. Whether you agree with what the sister Ebony of East Point Georgia did by posting to her FB page to shoot all White cops is irrelevant, the fact is Teana Walsh is in the same boat and should receive the same treatment. Why should the sister get arrested, humiliated in front of the world and this White woman not suffer the same fate? They both did the same thing. And the White woman was an assistant prosecutor at the time she posted her comments to shoot the Baltimore protesters, no judge, no jury, just execute them, string them up, lynch them…spread this petition far and wide calling for the arrest of Teana Walsh, resigning from her job is not enough.”

Unfortunately, this ordeal has sparked yet another racial debate. But, surprisingly, most readers have insisted that both women should be treated equally and both should have been arrested.
